What do demons and evil spirits look like today?

Demons/evil spirits are fallen angels. While some are kept captive, others are free to operate with Satan in the world. They are irredeemable; they rebelled against God. They know and fear Jesus Christ, and they know that their days are numbered. They can try and disrupt God’s purposes, they advance evil, they inflict disease, they can possess unbelievers and animals, they can oppress people, they can promote evil teachings, they can stifle spiritual growth, they can promote idolatry, and they can pervert marriage and sex. In short, they work contrary to every way in which God through His Holy Spirit seeks to work. Simply put, they seek to distract us in any way possible from looking to God for our moment-to-moment, day-to-day strength and guidance. When we lean on our own abilities and wisdom, they have gained their first foothold. That’s why one of the most powerfully important Scriptures a Christian can know and live by is Jesus’ words to the disciples in the Upper Room: Apart from me you can do nothing—Jesus Christ, John 15:5b. Demons and evil spirits are powerful and can cause incredible disruption, but they are also finite, limited beings and, therefore, we need not fear them. Our lives are held by Somebody infinitely more powerful. As the apostle John stated so strongly, You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world—I John 4:4.
